Black Canyon was founded in September 2004 by Michael Hooks and Mark Lanigan. Black Canyon is partnered with Canyon Capital Advisors LLC, one of the largest multi-strategy asset managers in the United States, with over $20 billion of assets under management. In addition, Black Canyon manages the Black Canyon Direct Investment Fund, a dedicated vehicle for investing in private transactions, which currently has approximately $500 million in equity commitments. To date, Black Canyon has invested approximately $900 million across diverse industries including consumer durables, retail, specialty finance, restaurants, media, and industrial manufacturers.
